  • On Wednesday, Fran McCaffery set his face on something: the NCAA Tournament
  • He had a goal to coach the Hawkeyes through the Tournament
  • But his son also was preparing to have surgery on a thyroid tumor
  •  Coach McCaffery made arrangements to be in Iowa City and then fly to Dayton, OH later that day.
  • The Hawkeyes lost the game
  • Two days later it was discovered that his son’s tumor was cancerous
  • Although Fran wanted to be with the team, he set his face to be with his family
  • This is a modern day example of something similar to what Jesus did

Luke 9:51
As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.

We are going to spend six weeks studying Ephesians. We want you to immerse yourself in this book. It’s great!

A little bit about the impetus for what I have about Ephesians 1.

  • My hope is that you leave here today excited about what God has for you

Thanks, veterans. Because of your service we get to do what we are doing today. Thanks.

Today we’re talking about money. Some people don’t like it when the church talks about money. But we’ve asked questions of our staff and know that it’s worth it to talk about money. Jesus addressed money issues.

As I read questions from the staff the thought came to mind, “How much does God really care about these questions. After all, it’s just a piece of paper that tells value, how much does God care?”

How important is money to God?
